[Character name] Bilbo Baggins
[Age] 51
[Canon] The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
[Point in time taken from canon] post-movie
[Background]
An Unexpected Journey summary, as well Bilbo's background
A note: I'm pulling Bilbo from the movie, but using the book as a guide on his abilities, personality, and on his background that the movies don't really go into.
[Personality]
Bilbo Baggins in the only child of Bungo Baggins and Belladonna Took. As a Baggins, he is used to living a respectable life. The Baggins are a family of wealthy hobbits that were known for living proper and normal lives. Bilbo was very fond of his laid back and simple life, too. He was fond of his seven daily meals, of working in his garden, of smoking his pipe, and most importantly, not going off on wild adventures.
See, Bilbo is also a Took. While also a wealthy family of hobbits, Tooks are known for having wild adventures. While his mother never went off on an adventure of her own (at least, after she got married, she didn't), Bilbo still had that blood. As a child, he used to play games of chasing elves and dreamed of having his own adventure one day. He loved the fireworks that Old Took shot off on Midsummer's Eve. But as he grew older and moved into the very comfortable lifestyle his parents left for him, that mindset seemed to change.
Even so, Bilbo's fascination for the lands outside of the Shire never changed. He was always fond of books and maps, and loved to read and learn about new places. He found elves to be magnificent, but frightening all the same. So when Gandalf appeared at his door, offering up the chance to go on an adventure, Bilbo had very mixed feelings. That Took part of him thought the idea was fantastic and was all for it, but the Baggins part of him kept insisting it was a bad idea.
Even after he does agree to go on the adventure, he is constantly home sick, to the point that he even starts to leave to return home. He dreams of being back in his hobbit hole. He dreams of working in his garden, of pouring over his books, and of actually getting to eat all seven meals in a day. He questions several times what he is doing on the adventure, when he knew he belonged in his hobbit hole, as did several of the dwarves. It's ultimately this that leads him to realize why he needs to stay and help the dwarves, as he comes to the conclusion that while he has a home to return to, they don't, and he wants to help them reclaim theirs.
Bilbo is definitely a very frightened hobbit. He was dragged out of his comfort zone and into a dangerous world. He was unable to fight and defend himself to begin with, and even when he got his elven dagger, he mostly just swung it around unsurely. He isn't afraid to admit he's scared, as he is quite often, but he always does manage to power through those frightful moments.
Fortunately, Bilbo is smart. He's clever and able to come up with ways of getting his friends out of trouble several times. When facing the trolls, he distracts them by discussing ways of cooking the dwarves and of them having parasites. He does this to keep the trolls busy until the sun rose and turned them into stone. When faced with being lost in the goblin tunnels, he uses his wit in a game of riddles against Gollum. While he only wins due to the fact that he asked a question, not a riddle, he still had the wit enough to play the game and make up riddles on the spot.
While often frightened, Bilbo is brave. He was brave enough to leave his hobbit hole, even when told the adventure meant facing a dragon and most likely death. He was brave enough to attempt to sneak past the trolls and save the ponies, even though he did get caught. He snuck away from the goblins and faced Gollum. He even had the courage to spare Gollum, even when he had the perfect opportunity to end the poor creature's life. His biggest act of courage, though, was returning to the company of dwarves. Several times, he spoke of returning home and of not belonging on the adventure. He even started to leave once, but he ended up returning anyways. He realized the adventure was more than just about himself, and even went far enough to put his life in danger, just to rescue Thorin.
[Abilities]
Bilbo has all the typical talents of a hobbit, and more. Like all hobbits, he's very light on his feet. He can sneak and hide well, and can go without being noticed if he so chooses. His sight is good, and while he can't compare to that of elven eyes, he can spot things that dwarves and men wouldn't notice. His other talents include cooking, aiming and throwing, blowing smoke rings, and riddles.
[Other important stuff]
Bilbo has recently come into the possession of the One Ring, though he is unaware of it's significance. All he knows is that it's a magic ring that makes him invisible when he wears it, allowing him to be more sneaky. The ring doesn't make the wearer completely invisible, though. They can still be bumped into, and during sunny occasions, the wearer's shadow can still be seen.
Bilbo will also being wielding his elven dagger, Sting, though the dagger remains nameless, as he hasn't named it as of yet. As with elven blades, it glows blue in the presence of orcs and goblins.

[First Person]
- If you could go back home, would you? Why or why not?
Of course I would. Or do you mean my actual home, not my home...world? Because I miss both terribly, of course. It would be nice to be back in my hobbit hole. But I was on a quest, and I can't abandon my friends.
- Would you consider yourself a hero or a villain? Why? Neither is an option as well, but still tell why.
I would have to say neither. I'm not a villain, and I'm most certainly no hero. I'm just...well, I'm just me, and just me is perfectly fine.
- Do you prefer adventure or the peaceful life?
I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but...perhaps adventures aren't so bad. I like my peaceful life and I do miss it, but I wouldn't go back, not without completing my adventure. I almost did! Funny how easily a mind can change, isn't it?
- Is the best part of waking up having Folger's in your cup?
I'm sorry, what? I haven't the slightest idea what a "folgers" is. Is that some kind of drink?
- There is a cake in the rain. What do you do?
Why someone would leave a perfectly good cake out in the rain is beyond me, but I suppose I would bring it in. Lot good that would do, it'd be more than ruined at that point. But it seems a shame to just leave it out there.
- Am I asking too many personal or strange questions?
Yes, actually, you are. So if that's all, I'll be going now.
[Third Person]
Bilbo couldn't decide what to make of the strange world he had found himself in. It was...interesting, to say the least. A world full of the strangest kind of magic, what with...devices and communicators! Some with magical mirrors, others with disembodied voices. Clothing was the strangest thing he had ever seen. And the people? The people were from everywhere, almost literally! Not just humans, aliens, they were called. People that were not only from other worlds, but other planets! Here he saw things beyond what he could begin to dream up as a young hobbit.
He hadn't been there long, but he could still hardly wrap his mind around it. It was definitely enough to make anyone's head explode, let alone someone who found he had family he had never heard of and friends that didn't remember the same things as him.
Still, the Took side of him couldn't help but find it simply amazing. This was a place his books couldn't begin to cover. He had new books now, and new maps. Maps and books from places he could never see or visit. But besides that, it was a new place to explore. New things to learn. It was a new adventure.
But every time that thought crossed his mind, he was struck with a bit of guilt. As interesting as this place was, he was needed home, whether or not everyone seemed to believe he would just wake up and find himself exactly where he had been. He couldn't see how that was possible, but he couldn't see how being in this dream world to begin with was possible. Still, either way, he hoped he wouldn't be stuck here long.
Which, technically, he could say that was for more than one reason. He wanted to get back to the other dwarves. He wanted to get back to the quest and finish it. He didn't like that he had been pulled away from it, especially after he made the decision to see it through. He didn't want to let them down, after he had done so on several occasions. But he did miss his hobbit hole, too. His missed his arm chair and his garden. He missed his books, and while the books here were great, they weren't the same.
Being so indecisive wasn't anything new, though. He felt the same about his adventure with the dwarves. He had been so unsure, yet found it to be worth it. He honestly hoped he would find this place to be the same, once he was better settled in. And, well, it would be nice to have a change from how dangerous things had been on the road. This place seemed peaceful enough. Right?
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] I fell in love with Bilbo and we have a great Tolkien cast already~
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] Being nice!
[Any questions?] nope~
